What WE do
Imagine a world full of creative, engaged, respectful people, eager to work with others, yet not afraid of speaking their minds. That vision drives us, and we believe the most effective way of developing those traits is in collaborative musical ensembles. That’s what we do. We use music as a vehicle for our citizens to discover their individual voice while at the same time develop a profound respect for others. And since our inception, we have made sure these unique learning opportunities are open to all, regardless of ability to pay. Because we believe, to realize this vision, we must represent the diversity that is around us and foster the potential that exists in each of us.
OUr Mission and History
Five determined musicians founded the Community Music School of Ann Arbor (previously known as Ann Arbor School for the Performing Arts) in 1991. They saw a need for a community music school that provided a comprehensive learning experience for toddlers to seniors. What they created was an opportunity for all community members to develop a lifelong love of music....
Our mission-driven team of teachers and administrators provide the momentum behind everything we do. Daily they are engaging, inspiring and supporting our students and realizing the mission of the school.
