Erik Anundson works as a saxophone performer and teacher in the Southwest Michigan Region. Along with teaching at the Community Music School of Ann Arbor, Erik teaches saxophone sectionals at the Detroit Civic Youth Ensembles, and works as an Instrument Petting Zookeeper
for the Ann Arbor Symphony helping to introduce children to instruments for the first time.
As a Performer Erik works on projects that combine multiple performance disciplines and is an advocate for new music. He has appeared alongside dancer Paul Dennis in New York City, premiering a work that includes aspects of music and dance for all performers. In Boston, Heworked with Terry Riley to create a performance of his piece “Poppy NoGood and the Phantom Band,” that included theatrical staging and performance elements. He has also appeared as a soloist with the University of Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra.
Erik received his Master’s Degree in Music for the University of Michigan in 2018 and his
Bachelor’s in Music from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2015.
