Jeremiah Quarles
Oboe instructor

A native of North Carolina, Ann Arbor based oboist Jeremiah Quarles strives to bring mindfulness and joy to the stage. An avid performer, passionate teacher, and committed reed-maker; he has performed with many ensembles throughout the east coast, including the Battle Creek and Dearborn Symphonies, the Piedmont Wind Symphony, the North State Chamber Orchestra, and the Sphinx Symphony Orchestra. His playing has been praised as, “sensitive and spellbindingly lovely.”
Teaching throughout Michigan, Ohio, and North Carolina, Jeremiah serves on the faculty of Heidelberg University as Professor of Oboe. His students have been accepted into music degree programs at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, the University of Texas at Austin, and the University of Michigan. Jeremiah holds both a Master of Music in Oboe Performance and a Master of Music in Chamber Music from the University of Michigan, and a Bachelors of Music in Oboe Performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. His principal teachers have included internationally acclaimed oboe soloist Nancy Ambrose King, Dr. Ashley Barret, and Robert Burkett.
